Over a quarter of the inmates in the Dallas County Jail have diagnosable mental health issues, effectively making it the second largest mental institution in the state. In my practice I work tirelessly to find a case resolution that honors community safety while at the same time addressing the underlying causes, which may lead to criminal behavior. Prison is for people we are afraid of, not for people we are mad at.
